STRIVING & SURVIVING / AT YOUR OWN PACE

I’m a teen and unsure how to ask for help

Start with an adult you feel safe approaching: a relative, teacher, school counselor, or another trusted adult. You can ask about privacy before explaining your situation.

Words you can use: “I need help, but I’m worried about who will find out. What stays private, and when would you have to tell someone?” We cannot promise a counselor will never contact parents or others; rules vary by service, age, location, and safety situation.
